About Course

This course provides students with a strong foundation in Bharatanatyam, focusing on fundamental postures, basic steps (Adavus), and an essential understanding of rhythm (Talam). Designed for batch learning, this program encourages students to develop grace, precision, and coordination while building confidence in their movements. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your basics, this course sets the stage for a deeper exploration of Bharatanatyam.

What Will You Learn?

  • This course is structured into two levels, gradually building a strong foundation in Bharatanatyam. In Level 1, students will be introduced to the history and significance of Bharatanatyam, along with fundamental postures such as Araimandi (half-sitting) and Samapadam (standing). They will learn basic steps (Adavus), hand gestures (Mudras), Asamyukta Hastas (single-hand gestures), and Samyukta Hastas (double-hand gestures). Additionally, students will practice simple dance sequences (Jyatis), gain an introduction to Talas (rhythmic cycles), and learn prayers and shlokas.
  • In Level 2, students will deepen their knowledge with Panchajati practical theory, shloka learning, and three-speed practice and recitation to refine their precision and control. The course will culminate in the performance of Pushpanjali, a traditional invocatory dance sequence.
